A Legacy to Remember
This year (2003), the Stephens Carver High Reunion Officers and Committee are pleased to dedicate this year's souvenir booklet to the late Lemar Jones. Lemar was born and raised in Stephens, AR and received his early years of education in the Stephens School System where he later worked for 29 years before retiring. He received his BS Degree from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, AR. Further studies included Texas Southern University in Houston, TX and Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, AR. Lemar was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Margree Torrence in 1959 and this union of love produced four offspring: Lemar Jones, Jr., Trudell Jones-Skinner, Margie Nell Jones-Hardy, and Jacqueline Jones-Lewis. He was the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and a faithful servant of the St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church. Lemar was a community activist and humanitarian who devoted many hours to community affiliates such as the Stephens Education Association, the Stephens Chamber of Commerce and the Arkansas Council of Deliberation.
